Four species of roses are native to Israel, flowering in pinkish-white hues of which the Rock Rose is but one. The gum of the Rock Rose is also known as Turlington and serves as an antiseptic when applied to small cuts and scratches. It is sometimes used to stop bleeding. The name in Hebrew means ‘Overshadowed by His Love’. How appropriate! His Love is beautiful and covers us! Just like this Rose, casting a shadow over the Rocks it grows on.
